America In Color

Fascinating set of photographs from the Denver Post are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression. They make the recession we’re currently experiencing not look quite so bad. Make sure to check out the whole set.

All photos are the property of the Library of Congress.

Free Friday – Textures

Caleb Kimbrough offers some amazing textures on his flickr page. The above image is from his subtle textures set.

Back

Sorry for the long hiatus…

I have been very busy lately with some exciting new projects and to be honest I was a little burnt out from blogging and needed a break… but I’m back and I will be updating more regularly and also share some of my recent work.

Catching My Breath

bird

I’m sorry for the lack of updates and interesting links lately. With some serious illnesses in my extended family and a lot of projects on my plate, I haven’t had much time to devote to eye4media. I promise when things settle down a little bit, I will be back with lots of creative goodness. Thanks for sticking with me!

Where Ships Go To Die

Ship Graveyard

I would love to visit this ship graveyard with my camera!

Now Being Served

Waiter

Is it just me or have you noticed that service in restaurants has been stellar lately? Just in the last few weeks I have 3 great service experiences. Could it be due to the fact that people aren’t eating out as much, so the servers areĀ  less stressed and can show more personal attention? Or is it that restaurants are trying harder to keep customers in this tough economy and are stepping it up a notch? Have you experienced this? What do you think?

Color Me Busy

I apologize for not posting anything this week, but work has been crazy. At work I’ve been preparing for a special vision message and the start of a new series the week after, plus getting ready for the offices being closed. My life away from work has been just as busy with volunteer projects, meetings and Christmas parties. Hang in there with me and I will be catching up on posts this weekend.

Thankful

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did! It is my favorite holiday of the year because of the food, the time with family & friends and it being the start of the Christmas season.

I always look forward to watching my Detroit Lions play every Thanksgiving, but this year was an exception. I had a feeling I shouldn’t watch the game after such a dismal start to the season (0-12) and I’m so glad I didn’t. They got pounded by the Titans. Oh, well there is always next season…Seems like I have been saying that since Barry Sanders retired.

I love the above photo of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the early 1930′s. I found it on on Swapatorium.

R&R

I’m experiencing a little R & R this next week away from all computers and cells. I’ll shall return refreshed and with eye candy for you. Hope everyone has a great week!

Speaking of the 80′s

Who didn’t love the 80′s? Smurfs were all the rage, Reagan was in office, the Cosby show was in primetime, and I ruled at Centipede. If you are like me and just little nostaglic about the decade, check out this amazing site with over 1,000 music videos and classic games from the 80′s. Good stuff.
