Art of The Word

Talented designer Jim Lepage is doing a creative series of posters based on every book of Bible. It’s not a small undertaking to stay creative and illustrate a concept from every book of the Bible. Well done! Your work is inspirational in more than one way.

Time To Remember

Today was a day to honor and remember those who were lost 10 years ago on September 11, 2001. I hope that as we remember them we will also remember those who they left behind and keep them in our prayers.

A Basic Need

I wanted to share the following two videos. They both have to do with water. The first video is from a

For World Water Day, BDDP  Unlimited partner NGO Solidarity International, which specializes in  coverage of basic needs (including water supply), created an  unprecedented display, using water directly as a medium. The display was set in the  heart of Paris and delivered messages about the damage caused by the non-potable water  in the world.

Photographer Esther Havens and the charity: water team head back to Murinja Village, Rwanda, to find a boy whose story has crossed the world to raise money for water projects.

His name is Jean Bosco. He’s 17 years old and used to collect water every day from a muddy swamp. Now, he and the hundreds in his village drink from a charity: water well.

Just two years of clean water had transformed this village. Jean Bosco and his friends told us they don’t get sick like they used to. What an amazing story!

What If?

See

What are the the things you walk by everyday but don’t really see? What are the amazing moments that we fail to capture because we don’t see them. I think this principle not only applies to photography or videography, but to every area in life. What opportunities do I miss to help someone, bring hope or a smile to a face simply because I’m only looking in and not looking out. I for one want to broaden my perspective and really see the world. How about you?

Where In The World Is Ziklag?

If you are into Bible Study or just history then check out www.biblemap.org. The site connects every location in the Bible with Google maps. It’s great for looking up that obscure location you just read about in the Old Testament. You can search by chapter and verse and even find out more about the location. Read an interview with one of the developers Tim Kimberly. What a great resource!

Twittering & Theology

Text

Interesting article from Time about how churches are using Twitter to encourage communication among the congregation. Having recently joined Twitter myself I can see the possibilities of using it to further communication, but I can also see some of the pitfalls as well. What do you think? Should Twittering be encouraged during the service or is it a distraction?

I love this line from the song “Stand Up Comedy” on U2′s latest album. How often have I tried to “help” God and forget just how awesome and powerful He truly is. I think the God who spoke the world into being has things under control, don’t you?
